Global markets saw a recovery on Thursday, with European stocks and U.S. futures bouncing back after recent losses. Europe’s STOXX 600 rose 0.56%, while Britain’s FTSE 100 gained 0.55% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.65%. In the U.S., Nasdaq futures surged 0.87%, driven by Tesla’s 12% premarket rise after a strong Q3 report and sales growth projections for next year. S&P 500 futures were also up 0.52%.
European stocks were further buoyed by strong earnings from Renault, Unilever, and Hermes. Meanwhile, Asian markets had mixed results with Tokyo’s Nikkei rising 0.1%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng and China’s blue chips fell over 1%.
In currency markets, the dollar index fell 0.29%, as the euro, pound, and yen gained ground. The euro rose to $1.08015, while the pound climbed 0.44% to $1.298 amid rising British bond yields. The yen advanced 0.63% to 151.78 against the dollar.
Oil prices recovered some ground, with Brent futures up 1.6% to $76.15 per barrel after a dip caused by a large buildup in U.S. crude stocks.
