RTX Corp, a U.S. aerospace and defense giant, plans to increase its workforce in India by 14%, adding 1,000 new roles to its existing 7,000 employees by 2027. The expansion will focus on hiring engineers and data scientists to support its global operations. Notably, aircraft engine maker Pratt & Whitney will recruit 300 engineers in 12-18 months, while Collins Aerospace will add 700 positions over three years.

India serves as a critical talent hub for RTX, not just a low-cost destination, according to executives. Collins Aerospace also plans to consolidate three manufacturing sites into a larger factory in Bengaluru by 2026.

India’s Global Capability Centers (GCCs) market is expected to grow significantly, reaching $99-$105 billion by fiscal 2030, up from $64.6 billion in 2024. RTX’s India operations focus on digital transformation, analytics, and advanced language models to enhance global maintenance and inspections.

Pratt & Whitney aims to reduce dependence on outsourcing firms like Cyient and DXC Technology, increasing in-house work from 33% to 55% in three years to better retain talent and protect intellectual property. RTX, formed in 2020 from a $121 billion merger between United Technologies and Raytheon, views India as a pivotal contributor to its global success.
